My goals for 2020

It's a new year, and a time when everyone starts making resolutions and goals which they don't stick to - a major reason why I choose the goals I do, because I've met me and I know I'll never stick to attending a gym or doing Weight Watchers. The goals I've set for this year are, for me, considerably more realistic.

Read one new book and watch one new film a month. This is one I do every year and haven't failed yet - in fact I generally manage many more than this, but I aim at one per month at the very least.

See as many Shakespeare plays as I can. I have tickets to several this year and am keeping my eyes open for more.

Try one new food a month. This is a new one, but should be easy enough to keep. I love trying new foods and have managed two already. I have, however, had to promise my husband not to do this in restaurants, as he hates it when I leave things on my plate.

Write at least two new stories. I've struggled to keep writing goals lately so am determined to finish the two I've been kicking around for the last few months.

So what are your goals for 2020?

  1. Love your goals.. especially about Shakespeare. That was one of my favorite classes in school (English major). My post is here: https://jhthomas.blogspot.com/2020/01/wednesday-blogging-challenge-my-goals.html

    1. I love to see Shakespeare on stage. Film doesn't quite cut it for me.

  2. I love Shakespeare, but prefer reading to watching for some reason. Maybe because I can research all the little jokes and nuances he included. Re: food -- I need to try that one again. I have a friend who buys one new food that she's never tried each week at the store. I'm not particularly brave when it comes to eating, but I wish I was so … I might steal that one from you :-)

    1. When I used to do the grocery shopping with my dad we used to try at least one new food a week. I'm sure my mum was thrilled at being presented with these things and asked to cook them :)

  3. You can do it. I'd love to be able to go to plays, so the Shakespeare one sounds cool. I had a goal last year of trying new foods at least once a month and it was fun. Good goals!

  5. Good reasonable goals. The best goals are the attainable ones. I too make those kinds of goals. Here's mine. https://www.tenastetler.com/my-goals-for-2020-lsrs-wednesdays-blog-challenge-1-08-20/

    1. I've tried the "lose weight/go to the gym" type goals and never stick to them, so I've given up on those.

  6. How I envy you in having Shakespeare plays to attend. I wish it was so where I live. I love the Bard. https://pmprescott.blogspot.com/2020/01/wednesday-challenge.html

  8. I know what you mean about struggling to find time/motivation for writing. That's one of my goals for this year, too. I love your ideas of trying a new food each month, and seeing Shakespeare plays. Especially the new foods - I'm notoriously chicken at trying new foods, and I tell myself all the time I need to do this more often. May have to follow your example!
